A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS: 80's band is still going strong
Some bands turn a dance craze or romantic thought into their signature song. A Flock of Seagulls frontman Mike Score says his band melded a melody with outer space imagery in "I Ran."
Mike Score talked about how A Flock of Seagulls created "I Ran.":
"We had a piece of music that we heard, that we kind of liked. We just had been trying to get a little record deal in Liverpool and there was a picture of two people running away from a flying saucer. And in that little space in your heads that links things together, somehow the 'I Ran' and that picture linked together and created a little story in my head."
Leading the band's current lineup on this summer's Lost '80s Live tour, Score reminisced about what was like growing up in Liverpool, England.
Mike Score said, "Coming from Liverpool, you know The Beatles are thrust in your face as being the greatest band ever. So the idea is how can we become the next Beatles? And having now said that, I think we're the only other band ever from Liverpool that's won a Grammy."
