QUEEN: Adam Lambert says Rami Malek is 'a perfect Freddie'
Adam Lambert isn't just impressed by Rami Malek's portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the bio-pic Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen's current frontman tells Entertainment Tonight that Malek is better suited to the role, than he would have been.
The onetime American Idol contender admits, "I don't look like Freddie. I don't sound like Freddie. I sound like me... Rami looks amazing. He's a great actor."
But Malek isn't a standout vocalist. Lambert says the movie will overcome that by using a combination of studio recordings by Freddie with Marc Martel, whose specialty is impersonating Mercury. "It's really about re-creating Freddie. So no, it wouldn't have been me."
Bohemian Rhapsody has its world premiere in London on October 24th. It opens in the U.S. November 2nd.
