Tom Petty box set 'An American Treasure' will be released next week

Another teaser track from the upcoming Tom Petty box set, An American Treasure, is out.

The previously unreleased "Gainesville" was recorded during the Echo sessions in 1998 and is at all digital retailers and streaming sites. If you pre-order An American Treasure, you'll get a instant download of "Gainsville" and the other two tracks already out -- "You and Me (Clubhouse Version)” and “Keep a Little Soul."

Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench discussed  the song “Gainesville.”

“The lyric is such a beautiful remembrance of what it was like in Gainesville, Florida, which in the late ’60s and early ’70s had a fantastic rock and roll scene. Florida had a fantastic music scene. And he just nailed the whole thing. He’s talking about Mudcrutch at the beginning, and it captures the feeling of Gainesville. This is a lovely song.”
