A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of defacing the David Bowie statue in Aylesbury, England.
The statue was dabbed with blue paint on October 10th, just a few hours after it had been professionally cleaned. Music promoter David Stopps, who led the crowdfunding campaign to get the statue made, tells the BBC that he plans to have the bronze sculpture “restored to its former glory as soon as possible.” The statue, called Earthly Messenger, is located outside the site of the Friars club where Bowie debuted the Ziggy Stardust character in January 1972.
This is the second time the statue has been defaced since it was erected in May. “RIP DB” was painted on the wall behind the statue and paint sprayed on it just two days after its unveiling.
