Roseanne Barr said she would not watch the premiere of The Conners, but shortly after the Roseanne spin-off show premiered last night, she had plenty to say about how her character was killed off.
The show opted to write off her character with an opioid overdose. This didn't go over well with Roseanne or her close friend and sometimes spokesperson Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. The two issued a joint statement saying, "We regret that ABC chose to cancel Roseanne by killing off the Roseanne Conner character. That it was done through an opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show. This was a choice the network did not have to make." (EW)
