Hall & Oates appear on 'The Goldbergs' this week

A Hall and Oates classic will be heard on Wednesday night's Halloween-themed episode of The Goldbergs.

Looking for the perfect '80s song to fit with slipping Robert Englund’s legendary character Freddy Krueger into a dream sequence, executive producer Adam F. Goldberg selected "You Make My Dreams (Come True)." He felt it would terrify his on-screen mother, Beverly (played by Wendy McLendon-Covey), who, in her sleep, faces off with Krueger.

The clincher was hearing Daryl Hall and John Oates sing, "On a night when bad dreams become a screamer. When they’re messin’ with a dreamer," convinced Goldberg he had a winner. He explained, "Hall and Oates were my favorite duo from my childhood... Their songs dominated the '80s while I was growing up in suburban Philadelphia," which was where the duo grew up.
