Elton John is worried about America's future

The fact that Tuesday was Election Day wasn't lost on Elton John Monday night when he hosted the annual fall gala for his AIDS Foundation in New York.

Taking the podium, Elton -- who has homes in Atlanta and Los Angeles -- said, "I worry about the future of this country...If you don’t show another human respect, then that person is going to be ostracized, he’s going to be angry, he’s going to lash out. And I feel that in this country, sooner or later, people are going to lash out because they’re getting sick and tired of it – and I don’t want that to happen.”

Monday night's event raised $3.9-million for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
