ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons drops opening act after Facebook post

ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons has dropped opening act Benton Blount from his Big Bad Blues solo tour after the one-time America's Got Talentcontestant posted photos on Facebook of himself in a MAGA hat, holding a Chick-Fil-A sandwich and drink and wearing an "I Voted" sticker on Election Day.

The Fox Carolina website, based in Blount's hometown Greenville, South Carolina, reported the news on Thursday. They then updated it to include a statement from Gibbons publicist that Blount was "disinvited to continue the tour because of a creative decision.”

Following the news that he'd been canned, Blount -- who had three shows left with Gibbons -- wrote on Facebook, "I was banned from Facebook (for 24 hours) and now I’ve just been banned from my opening spot on the Billy Gibbons tour. But suppression of Conservative opinion doesn’t happen and it doesn’t effect [sic] your career.”
