The Doobie Brothers will change things up on their fall tour tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) when they perform two of their most successful albums -- Toulouse Street and The Captain and Me -- in their entirety at the Beacon Theater in New York.
Patrick Simmons talked about why The Doobie Brothers chose the two albums they did to perform in their entirety this week:
"Originally we were just talking about doing The Captain and Me and then all of a sudden Toulouse Street was thrown in there. And, as soon as I saw that I thought, 'Well, that's good 'cause this album's a no-brainer -- we do most of those songs anyway.' I think they're a good choice 'cause they were really our first two successful back-to-back records so it's nice to kind of have that as a starting place anyway and maybe we'll do some more of this in the future."
The Doobies join a list of artists, which includes Bruce Springsteen, The Moody Blues and Steely Dan, who have been doing complete albums over the past couple of years.
