Mick Jagger teased new Rolling Stones material back in September. In a new interview, the frontman doesn’t give much away about the possibility of another album, but does say that he thinks it’s time for a new release.
Jagger says that although the band hasn’t necessarily “needed” to put anything new out because of their massive catalog, he thinks it’s “a shame” that they haven’t." Continuing to tease fans, he reveals that he has indeed been writing some new material. “It’s going good. I’ve got lots of stuff,” he hints. “I’m doing some more writing this week.”
In his mind, the upside to having a huge catalog is that he has the opportunity to switch up the band’s live setlist… with the exception of the hits, of course. “I try and go back and find some stuff that we haven’t done ever or we haven’t done very much and try to mix it in, so it isn’t always the same show,” he notes. “But when you’re playing a really big show, there’s a certain amount of songs people want to hear.”
The Rolling Stones announced a United States stadium tour. Jagger says that fans should expect “a good night out.” “It’s pretty high energy and it’s a good show, I think. I’m into it,” he adds.
