Kenny Loggins is Dan Rather's next guest on his AXS TV series The Big Interview.
Airing Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, the singer-songwriter touches on his many classic songs -- including those who made him pop's soundtrack king of the '80s.
Kenny Loggins says the movies and music had a beneficial relationship during the 1980's:
"Footloose, Caddyshack, Top Gun: the movie thing is an interesting synergy, because the movie lifts the song, the song lifts the movie and back then, it hadn’t been done. Pop music and movies were not necessarily symbiotic."
Loggins also opens up about his collaborations, including working with his vocalist daughter; reveals what really went on behind the scenes of “We Are The World,” and the reason for Prince’s surprise departure. He also shares a humorous anecdote about getting his big break thanks to a girl he was dating, whose father just so happened to be the CEO of Disney — leading to Loggins receiving the rights to what would become one of his most defining songs: "House at Pooh Corner."
