British rock legend Cliff Richard isn't a prolific songwriter. So he takes great pride in the new verse he added to the seasonal standard "Silent Night." He worked in a reference to "Mistletoe and Wine," a holiday song he popularized in the '80s.
Cliff says, "I did do a Christmas album, and it was mostly all known stuff like 'The Christmas Song.' And I did a really interesting version of 'Silent Night.' There was this instrumental section in the middle and I wrote another whole thing [verse] to stick it in there. 'The guy and his wife... The kids have gone to bed... We're having our last cup of coffee... There's fire a way... And it's just beginning to snow... And they're playing 'Mistletoe and Wine' on the radio."
