Todd Rundgren closes out 2018 with the publication today (Friday) of his autobiography, The Individualist: digressions, dreams and dissertations. The Individualist was the title of his 1995 album.
Todd Rundgren talked about writing his autobiography, The Individualist:
"I don't so much enjoy the process as some other people might enjoy writing about themselves. But, it's an experiment in form because a lot of times people write a book and they mix up the things that happen with, you know, the kind of rosy recollections that they have, which may conflict with the facts, with the emotions that they were going through at the time and it gets hard to tell what actually did happen. So I tried to write a book in which those things get unraveled in a way."
That way was to write three paragraphs on every page. The first paragraph is his best recollection of exactly what happened. The second is what's going through his mind while it's happening. And in the third paragraph, he draws conclusions based his recollections and thoughts.
The book ends when Todd turned 50.
