Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman is set to narrate the upcoming “David Bowie Is” mobile app, which brings the exhibition of the same name in honor of the late musician to life.
In a statement, the actor says it’s “a privilege to be involved” in the project of his close friend and collaborator. The two South London-born stars became close friends after meeting in the 1980s, both appearing in the 1996 Julian Schnabel film “Basquiat” and Oldman starring in Bowie’s 2013 video for “The Next Day” in 2013.
“This brings the amazing ‘David Bowie Is’ exhibition to a wider audience,” Oldman notes. “It’s great that his fans get to experience it.”
The Augmented Reality edition comes out for Android and iOS on January 8th, what would have been his 72nd birthday. A Virtual Reality version will also be released, though the date hasn’t been announced yet.
