Styx performs acoustic show in the dark in California

A funny thing happened to Styx last night (Wednesday) during their show at the Sunset Center in Carmel, California -- the lights went out just as they were about to start their second set.

The same thing happened almost two years ago to the day, and like they did then, they broke out the acoustic instruments. They played a 40-minute set with no microphones and no amplification. Among the songs they did were "Pieces of Eight,” “Lights,” “Boat on the River,” “The Greater Good,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Come Sail Away,” and “Renegade.” And that was it -- the power was never restored.

The band had an inkling something could go wrong as storms in the area caused the power to go out during their soundcheck. And when it went out for good during the show, their drum tech was trapped in the elevator and had to wait 45 minutes for the fire department to get him out.
