Keith Richards opens up about new Stones album and tour

The Rolling Stone’s Keith Richards has given fans a little update on their next studio album. The guitarist tells “Rolling Stone” the band plans to head back into the studio for about a week, with Keith noting, “I’m preparing more than anything else, putting material together.”

Ronnie Wood recently claimed the album was stalled, but Keith says he had some time over the holidays to review the material. “Sometimes it’s not as much writing as listening to what’s been written and figuring it out, and honing and all kinds of stuff,” he says. “It’s very boring. It’s like a carpentry shop.”

  • As for the band’s upcoming tour, which kicks off April 20th in Florida, Keith shares, “To play back in the States again, it’s fantastic. It’s been a while,” adding, “I’ve always had a soft spot for working in America.” Richards also hints that as they have in the past, they may do a club show before the tour starts, sharing, that it may be a “matter of logistics,” but adding, “it’s definitely on the menu.”
