Elton John is six months and more than 65 shows into his three-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, and so far so good.
He tells London's Mirror, "I didn’t expect to have as much fun as I’m having, but what we try to do visually and musically is elevate it to another level, because if you’re going to do one more tour, you’ve got to make it a little special. [And] I’m singing really well, too... It’s joyous. I want it to be joyous because I want to say thank you to everybody for 50 years of support and love, and it’s turning out that way.
But he'll be glad when it's all done, too. “I want it to end triumphantly, I want to have a wonderful finish and then have a breather... I’m fed up traveling -- and I travel in the most comfortable, luxurious way -- but I find it really boring."
Elton is in New York with shows at Madison Square Garden tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow, followed by the Barclays Center across the East River in Brooklyn, New York on Friday and Saturday.
