The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde is ready for a new album

Chrissie Hynde has a solo album due out this year, but she's already focused on the next thing from The Pretenders.

She writes on Facebook, "James Walbourne and I have been assembling songs, and to our surprise, we have enough for the next Pretenders album, so we’re planning on recording that soon instead of next year. James, Nick [Wilkinson] and Martin [Chambers] and I go in this week to start rehearsing for it. As Lou Reed said, 'You can’t beat two guitars, bass and drums.'"

The last Pretenders album, 2016's Alone, didn't feature any of the current lineup except Hynde. Her upcoming solo album, Valve Bone Woe, is due out in the summer and it's a "jazz-dub" project that has her covering songs by the likes of The Beach BoysNick DrakeRay Davies and others.
