George Michael art auction raises millions for charity

George Michael's massive, wide-ranging art collection went on the auction block on Thursday night -- raising more than $12 million for charity.

The 60-piece collection consisted mostly of works by younger British artists that the late singer began befriending in the '90s. ArtNet reports that some topped out at spectacular prices, including "George Loves Kenny," a glowing neon piece in honor of his relationship with longtime boyfriend Kenny Goss -- which brought $400,000.

Proceeds will benefit causes George supported during his life, such as children’s counseling and the fight against AIDS.
