Barbra Streisand addressed the backlash she heard over comments about Michael Jackson and the singer’s alleged victims of sexual abuse.
Streisand originally told The Times of London in a response to the Leaving Neverland documentary, (quote) “You can say ‘molested,’ but those children were thrilled to be with Jackson. They both married and they both have children, so [the sexual abuse] didn’t kill them.”
She excused Jackson’s behavior. (quote) “His sexual needs were his sexual needs. I blame the parents. Who would allow their children to sleep with Michael?”
On Sunday, Barbra Streisand tried to set the record straight in a carefully written statement. She said in part (quote) “I didn’t mean to dismiss the trauma these boys experienced. Like all survivors of sexual assault, they will have to carry this for the rest of their lives.” (Us Weekly)
