The rapper behind '80s hits “Funky Cold Medina” and “Wild Thing” was briefly detained at a Texas airport over the weekend after calling out a family traveling with a teenager wearing a confederate flag hat.
53-year-old Tone Loc was briefly handcuffed following an altercation where he called out a stranger for the offensive article of clothing at the Midland International Air and Space Port. The parents of the white teenager quickly stepped in on their son’s behalf to let the rapper it was inappropriate to confront a minor. Loc agreed he shouldn’t have come at the kid directly, but still wondered, “How are you going to wear that in front of a black man?” Things escalated, with both parties yelling and cursing at one another, while the family asserted their right to “free speech.”
Police quickly responded and separated the rapper and the family. In the end, cooler heads prevailed and everyone went on their way with no charges pressed. (PageSix)
