Tom Petty, Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr and more will be featured in the new documentary “Echo In The Canyon,” about Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, an area that helped birth the “California Sound” of the 60s, made famous by artists like the Byrds, the Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, and the Mamas and the Papas.
The film, executive produced by Jakob Dylan, also features interviews with Michelle Phillips, Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, Roger McGuinn, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Beck, Fiona Apple, Jackson Browne and more. The Petty interview is actually the last filmed interview he did before his death in 2017.
“Echo in the Canyon” is set to open in two theaters in Los Angeles on May 24th, followed another two theaters in New York on May 31st, with both openings featuring performances by artists in the film. The movie and soundtrack are expected to have a larger rollout in June. Check out a trailer for the film to the right.
