Ahead of kicking off his solo tour tomorrow in Collingswood, New Jersey, Dave Davies has revealed that he has more on the slate with The Kinks. In a new interview, the guitarist says that he and Ray Davies are working on another album.
The two have been working on unfinished archival tracks for the past month or so, but they’ve also brushed off “a good six-to-10” new songs that have been in the works for years. Once they wrangle the material together, Davies hopes to put out a new Kinks album soon. They’ve also enlisted original Kinks drummer Mick Avory for the reunion project.
“Ray and I are trying to get all these ideas together so that, hopefully, there might a Kinks thing out at the end of the year,” Davies says. “When we first started getting together, Ray played me some tapes and I played him a couple of my ideas… I found [that] t’s the humor, it’s the fun of it that came back.”
