The Commodores' William King looks back on their college days

While it's long been known that The Commodores were started by students attending Alabama's Tuskeegee University, we just learned something surprising about them.

On a recent visit to Tuskeegee, founding member William King told The Montgomery Advertiser, "They did not have a music major at Tuskegee [at the time]. I got my B.S. degree in business management."

King "was really off into technology, dealing with software and hardware. That’s where I was actually aiming to go into. But once I got into the band... we were having such a good time that we just continued doing it. But when we first started it, we had no idea of doing it for our livelihood. It wasn’t that at all. It was just having fun.”
