ELO's Jeff Lynne, Blondie will be honored by ASCAP next month

ELO's Jeff Lynne and Blondie's Chris SteinDebbie Harry and Clem Burke will be honored next month at the annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards in Beverly Hills.

On May 16th, Lynne will receive the performing rights organization's Founders Award, while the Blondie mainstays will accept the Golden Note Award.

ASCAP Chairman Paul Williams praises Lynne for "a singular career -- and we are all fortunate that his musical genius has been felt so widely." He notes how the Blondie trio "electrified an underground music scene and later mainstream listeners when they married punk and pop with Debbie's enviably cool lyrics and voice."
