Woodstock 50 creator posts short thank you on event website

Michael Lang, the co-founder of Woodstock and promoter of Woodstock 50, has posted a note on the embattled festival's website.

Titled Thank you Woodstock Nation, he writes, "To the more than 100,000 of you who have responded to our situation with support and solidarity ... a heartfelt 'thank you.' Our intention holds firm. To deliver a world-class, once-in-a-lifetime festival to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. To honor a cultural icon that changed the way we think about music and togetherness... and will do so again."

He's not the only one who wants to see this happen. Some of the public comments posted to the site:

  • "You got this! I believe that Woodstock 50 WILL HAPPEN!"
  • "Woodstock 50 is needed desperately at this time in our history. Keep the faith!"
  • "Just as in the past you will prevail and history will remember you for that."
  • "My parents took a Woodstock banner and hung it over my crib as a baby. I feel a connection with this festival and want to see it be a success. Let me know what we can do."
  • "My wife and I went to the original Woodstock concert as our first date. We are very excited and plan to attend the 50th reunion concert as well."

The event Lang hopes to salvage is supposed to take place August 16th, 17th and 18th in Watkins Glen, New York.
