George McCrae: 70's disco icon is back with a new album

George McCrae is back with new music this summer.

The voice of the rhythmic classic "Rock Your Baby," the second disco hit to go number-one, has released Love, an album of original R&B.

The West Palm Beach native credits fellow South Florida star Betty Wright for his landing with TK Records. Her producer Willie Clark was impressed when the then-unknown singer opened for Betty while her big hit "Clean Up Woman" ruled the radio in 1971.

McCrae will co-star in the 2020 Ultimate Disco Cruise. That will reunite him with KC and the Sunshine Band, who were also vital to his career. Harry "KC" Casey co-wrote "Rock Your Baby," and chose him to record the song because, frankly, KC, couldn't hit and hold the high notes the way George could.

George McCrae recently discussed the renewed interest in '70s disco music:

"Thanks to DJs, you know in many cases, they're dancing to all the house music now and the remixes and all this too. And the DJs, they're playing vinyl records!
