Pretty Woman: The Musical is spreading its brand overseas -- while reuniting with the classic song that helped inspire the production.
The Broadway hit, based upon the Julia Roberts-Richard Gere movie that featured "Oh, Pretty Woman," has reached a deal with Roy Orbison's family to add the song to its score.
While the musical features a score of original songs by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, the absence of Orbison's song puzzled some fans. Now, to coincide with the 55th anniversary of the single, "Oh, Pretty Woman" will be heard not only in the Broadway production, but three upcoming tour companies.
The show opens September 23rd in Munich, Germany. A second international production of Pretty Woman: The Musical will open in London next year. There's also a separate U.S. national tour set to start in October 2020.
