Woodstock 50 dealt another setback

Woodstock 50 has been dealt another blow.

This one comes from a New York State Appellate Court, which ruled that the festival's former financial partner, Dentsu Aegis, does not have to return the $18.5-million which the promoters contend was “illegally swept” from a festival account.

The money had been held by Dentsu's attorneys during the appeal process. The ruling calls for return of the money to Dentsu.

The festival planned for August 16th - 18th has lost its financial backer, its production company and its site.

Still, Michael Lang, the co-creator of the original Woodstock, insists he will pull it. And he has history on his side: the 1969 festival lost its site in Wallkill, New York one month before the event. Lang is hoping for another Max Yasgur, the man who allowed him to use his farm in Bethel, New York, thereby salvaging music's most iconic festival.
