Aretha Franklin sang the '80s classic "Freeway of Love." Now, as a hometown honor, part of a Detroit freeway is being named in her honor.
A section of the Lodge Freeway in Detroit will become the Aretha L. Franklin Memorial Highway. The bill authorizing the change was signed earlier this week by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who says the Queen of Soul's "creativity and voice contributed to our musical and cultural history in Michigan."
