Steve Miller shares alternate version of 'Swingtown'

Steve Miller Band has a new three-CD/DVD collection, “Welcome To The Vault” dropping on October 11th and they’re giving fans a taste of what unique things they are going to find on it.

The group just released an alternative version of their song “Swingtown,” which originally appeared on 1977's “Book of Dreams,” and it's an instant great track for anyone who pre-orders the set, which in total features five previously unreleased songs.

“As we were working on it, it was the era of the two-minute-and-30-second single and it had to be made for radio and there were always limitations. So I took what we had and edited and pared it down,” Miller tells “Billboard." "It's interesting to compare the two. You sort of see what the limitations of radio can do to a piece of music...I'm glad we're getting that out there for people to hear." Check out a clip of the song to the right.
