David Bowie made his big-screen debut as an alien in Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 film “The Man Who Fell To Earth.” Now, after 40 years, the movie is coming to the small screen.
CBS is working on a spinoff television series to explore “the next chapter” of the original film, picking up where “The Man Who Fell To Earth” left off. Alex Kurtzman, known for producing “Star Trek,” has been tapped to direct the project, as well as produce and write alongside Jenny Lumet.
Bowie can’t reprise his role, but Kurtzman promises that the new, unnamed Star Man will carry on the legacy. The series is tentatively set to air by 2020 or 2021.
