While Woodstock 50 isn’t happening, this weekend does mark the 50thanniversary of the epic concert, and it will be celebrated with concerts and events at the site of the original concert.
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is commemorating the anniversary with “A Season of Song & Celebration,” featuring a trio of concerts and other events.
Things kick off tonight with a screening of the award-winning documentary “Woodstock: the Director's Cut,” followed by a concert featuring Ringo Starr and his All Star Band, tomorrow, with the bill also featuring original Woodstock performer Edgar Winter, who’ll return to Bethel with The Edgar Winter Band, and Blood, Sweat and Tears.
Then Saturday will see the return of Woodstock legend Santana, with special guests The Doobie Brothers, with John Fogerty set to close out the celebration on Sunday, with special guests Tedeschi Trucks Band and Grace Potter.
But don’t expect to be able to head to the original Woodstock location if you don’t have a concert ticket. In order to drive in the area travel passes were given only to those with tickets.
