Three concerts featuring Dionne Warwick, Peabo Bryson and Deniece Williams have been postponed due to offensive and threatening text messages.
The producer and members of the production staff of the “A Night of Class” concert received the texts from an unknown number throughout the day of the August 23rd show at Atlanta’s Fox Theater. The texts contained “racist and homophobic messages specifically mentioning crew members by name.”
While that show, and another in Washington, DC, went on as planned, a concert scheduled for August 25th at Richmond, Virginia’s Altria Theater and shows scheduled for tonight at Brooklyn’s Kings Theater and tomorrow at New York’s Beacon Theater have been postponed, “to ensure the safety of all staff and audience members.”
So far new dates for the shows have not been announced.
