Schools across the UK are dealing with student stress in a new way: teaching mindfulness.
A three-year study has begun at 400 schools to see whether the new approach helps improve the mental health of the kids. It might be something that could help in the America as well, since there’s been a 20-percent jump in children diagnosed with anxiety in the last five years in the United States.
Among the approaches being used for the study are relaxation, breathing exercises, and 'mindfulness breaks'. If the study goes well, it’s hoped all students in the region will be given the same exercises.
When asked if adults should learn the same techniques, all students in one classroom gave a resounding “yes.” How do YOU deal with stress? Do you use any of these techniques?
