Cars' streams up 643% since Ric Ocasek's death

Sales of The Cars music has jumped since the death of frontman Ric Ocasek last week, and it seems plenty of folks have been streaming the band’s music as well. 

According to Nielsen numbers, streams of The Cars’ tunes increased 643% in the week following Ocasek’s death, with songs streamed 11.2 million times on September 15th and 16, up from 1.5 million just two days prior.

Between September 15th to 18th, songs by The Cars were streamed more than 18.6 million times, with “Drive,” the most streamed tune (1.9 mil), followed by “Just What I Needed,” “Magic,” “Good Times Roll,” and “Best Friend’s Girl.”
