Def Leppard's Rick Savage traveled far to jam at iHeartRadio Music Festival

Def Leppard and Heart were the classic rock acts at this weekend's iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Heart is on tour in the U.S., but Def Leppard had to come together for this show, which meant a long haul for bassist Rick Savage.

Joe Elliott talked about Rick Savage flying from Sheffield to Las Vegas for Def Leppard's 25-minute set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Saturday:

"It's kind of funny, I've gotta be honest. You know, we just did this set where we're all in Vegas, we're all living in Vegas, we're playing for two hours [at our residency], and then we take this 10 day break and Rick Savage, bless him, flies all the way back to Sheffield in England, where he lives, and is driving three hours down to Heathrow [airport], taking a 12-hour flight into Vegas to play for 25 minutes. I really don't know whether to laugh or cry on his behalf because that is what I call commitment."

During Def Leppard's five-song set, Elliott dedicated "Armageddon It" to "the memory of Eddie Money and Ric Ocasek of The Cars," and "Pour Some Sugar on Me" to Miley Cyrus, who was also on the bill. They also did "Promises," "Animal" and "Hysteria."

Def Leppard will return to the U.S. for two more shows this year -- October 12th in Manchester, Tennessee and November 2nd in Wheatland, California.
