Elton John wrapped up his week in Los Angeles promoting his memoir, Me, by taking the stage Thursday night at the Greek Theater following a screening of his film, Rocketman, with accompaniment by the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra.
He joined the film's star, Taron Egerton, for a duet on "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and the song written specifically for the film, "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again."
Among those on hand for the night were Pete Townshend, Elton's songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and, from the film, Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard, and director Dexter Fletcher.
Elton John discussed his takeaway from the film, Rocketman :
"It just gave us another boost. I mean, the film was such a success. It was the film I wanted to make. We didn't make a PG film. We wanted to make an R film because my life has been R. It could have have been ummm. Yeah, you know, things have just worked out. This is the best year of my career and I've had the most incredible career -- the tour, the book, The Lion King coming out again and various other things happening. I've written two musicals. So, I'm very, very lucky."
