Prince’s family is no longer suing over the singer’s death, according to Yahoo. Reports indicate the wrongful death lawsuits filed by the singer’s family have been dismissed.Speculation is that the family has settled with the defendants.
In April of 2018, Prince’s family filed suit against Minnesota doctor MichaelSchulenberg, who treated Prince in the weeks before his April 21st 2016 death, as well as the Trinity Medical Center, who treated him for an opioid overdose a week before his death. The lawsuit against the doctor was dismissed in November, and the suit against Trinity, as well as the Walgreens that filled Prince’s prescriptions, were dismissed in August.,
While no statements have been issued about the dismissals, Henry Blair, a professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, tells the AP, since both sides agreed to the dismissals it seems “99.99% sure those are settlements.”
·There are some items that apparently remain in doubt: Prince’s siblings still don’t know how much the estate is worth, and it seems the estate and the IRS still haven’t agreed on its value. It’s said to be worth around $200 million before taxes.
