Peter Asher has opened up about the passing of his friend Millie Small, who toured with him occasionally in the '60s.
Asher said, "Millie and I were close friends back in the '60s, and I liked and admired her very much."
He remembered the "My Boy Lollipop" hitmaker as "an utterly charming young woman possessed not only of a unique voice but of great energy, determination and an irrepressible sense of humor." Peter added that she "dearly loved the music of her homeland" and -- along with her manager, the legendary Chris Blackwell, he said she "deserves all possible credit for being the first artist to bring [ska] to international attention and acclaim. She will be greatly missed."
Millie Small passed away this week at age 73, after suffering a stroke.
