John Fogerty celebrates 75th birthday today

John Fogerty celebrates a milestone birthday today. The rock ‘n roll legend turns 75.

He achieved success first as a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival and then on to a great solo career.Fogerty is an Army veteran and a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall and Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

John is married to his second wife, Julie, and he has seven children -- three with his first wife, and three with Julie, who has a daughter from a previous marriage. Fogerty’s two sons with Julie -- Shane and Tyler -- are in his current band.

Fogerty says he doesn't try to rush his songwriting:

"There's this sort of agonizing exercise you go through, sometimes its just minutes, and other times it's months if not years where you know somewhere down in you is the exact right way to say that -- so that it's really just excellent. I mean you know that, you feel that it's in you somewhere, but you can't, for the life of you, you just can't figure it out. To me it's an awful lot like a math problem back in school. But if you have enough time, if you give yourself enough time you'll get it."

John reflects on the good memories he has from his days in Creedence Clearwater Revival:"These days, I tend to want to think of the happy times when the band was still together, traveling the world, making new music that went around the world, quite frankly. There was no signal at the time that things would go wrong, let's say. And even though it was a blur, it all happened in about two-and-a-half years, I tend to now want to think about those days in a happy way."
