The rumored TV spinoff of Grease is changing studios.It was first announced by HBO Max.The series, now titled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, will be produced for Paramount Plus, the newly expanded version of CBS All Access set to kick off in 2021.
According to an article in Variety, HBO had issues securing the rights to songs from the original stage musical and film, classics like "Greased Lightning" and "Summer Nights." The series returning to the studio that released the 1978 movie might actually help secure a deal for the music.
The series will focus on Sandy, Rizzo, Jan, Marty and Frenchy characters. Along with familiar movie songs, new songs are expected to written for the series.
