Midnight Oil bassist and back up vocalist Bones Hillman has passed away after his battle with cancer. He died Saturday at age 62.
Hillman, who’s actual name was George Stevens, was born in New Zealand. He joined the Australian band back in 1987.He came on board after they recorded their seventh album, Diesel and Dust, which featured their smash "Beds Are Burning."
Bones played on the remainder of their albums, starting with Blue Sky Mining. Hillman passed away at his home in Milwaukee.
In a statement, Midnight Oil called Hillman "the bassist with the beautiful voice, the band member with the wicked sense of humor, and our brilliant musical comrade." (ABC.net.au)
