Billy Joel is celebrating the 47th anniversary of his iconic Piano Man album with a new video reminiscence on social media.
Billy recently recalled the making of his Piano Man album, released this week in 1973:
In the early '70s, I moved to Los Angeles and I worked in a piano bar for six months. And the song 'Piano Man' was about that particular time period. Kind of a lot of different influences went into this -- there's some country western influence in here, bluegrass even. TheRoy Rogers Band was playing on this album. 'The Ballad of Billy the Kid' which was completely made up, movie scenario. I wanted to write a movie soundtrack. But nobody was offering me a movie to write a soundtrack to. So I made up my own."
