Doors drummer John Densmore will release his new book on Tuesday. The Seekers: Meetings With Remarkable Musicians (And Other Artists) discusses his longtime friendships with and admiration for legendary musicians, like Lou Reed, Janis Joplin, Ravi Shankar, Bob Marley -- and, especially, his late Doors bandmates Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek.
The chapter devoted to Manzarek recalls the keyboardist's unique talents, which were highlighted in "Light My Fire” and “Riders on the Storm." Densmore explains, "Our mutual love of jazz informed our spirituality."
Densmore remembers the day he and Ray first met in 1965, while also recalling the disagreement over The Doors legacy that drove them apart, before they ultimately reconciled before Manzarek’s death from cancer in 2013. (Rolling Stone)
