David Bowie’s estate is expected to release a covers single to commemorate what would have been the rock legend’s 74th birthday on January 8th.
Both songs are previously unreleased and recorded back in 1998. The cover of John Lennon's "Mother" was not included on a Lennon tribute album, and Bob Dylan's "Trying to Get to Heaven" was recorded while Bowie was mixing the LiveandWell.com live album.
Both tracks will be made available to fans for streaming and download, as well as on a seven-inch single, limited to 8147 copies worldwide.
That number actually marks Bowie's birthday when written in the British style – “8/1/47.”
