We’ve been talking about memorabilia on the Big Show this morning. Beatles related memorabilia continues to endure as a police helmet worn by John Lennon just appraised for nearly $11,000 on the British version Antiques Roadshow.
Along with George Harrison and Paul McCartney, John was also photographed wearing the helmet when The Beatles performed at the Birmingham Hippodrome in 1963.
The police guarding the venue encouraged The Beatles to wear protective helmets to themselves safe with a frenzied crowd at the venue, just in case things got out of control
The daughter of the officer who loaned the helmet to Lennon appeared on an episode of the series with the souvenir helmet and the photo. The show's expert Marc Allum then declared the item (which was made more valuable because Lennon’s DNA is in it) to be worth between $6800 and $10,900. She later added that she has no plans to sell it. (London Sun)
