Katrina Leskanich of the 80’s band Katrina and the Waves has opened up about her bout with the coronavirus last March while performing on an 80’s themed cruise.
Katrina says she never expected that the cruise would turn into a super-spreader event, but that’s exactly what happened.
She’s now fully recovered—and is very disappointed live music remains on hold due to the pandemic. The London resident told BBC radio Sussex how unprepared she felt the cruise line was when passengers starting showing symptoms.
Katrina also talked about coping with the pandemic: "You know, we're clunking along. At first it was a shock and a novelty. And I think, like everything else, eventually and almost frighteningly, start to get to used to it. Here we are, lounging around again, although all of my gigs for all of 2020 and a lot in '21 went by the way. And so you have to change your lifestyle -- dramatically. But, I mean, you know, we're all doing it, we're all in it together. I'm not going to sit here and be a big wincher."
