James Duke Mason, the son of Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle has gone on record advocating for his mom’s band making the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In a Billboard guest column, Mason said that The Go-Go’s making the Rock Hall ballot for the first time has given him "a strong sense of relief and satisfaction.”
Mason has said his mom "always assumed that people knew and understood why The Go-Go’s were so important -- not only for female musicians, but for music and history more broadly." Admitting that it's "amazing to think that The Go-Go’s would be the first and only all-female rock band" in the Hall, Mason explains how "not only... would [they] be inducting five women at once, all of whom would be likely to vote [once they are members] for more female inductees in the future."
