The Village People smash “Y.M.C.A.” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of fame back in December, but word has come the group is declining the honor.
Village People founder Victor Willis recently told TMZ that the group declined the induction, saying the Hall of Fame is “lacking” and “not taken seriously by the recording academy.”
Willis is not happy that there is no mention of Hall of Fame honorees during the Grammy Awards. He’s also upset there is no ceremony to go along with an induction.
Willis went on to say he considers it an insult and that the Village People won’t accept the honor until the Grammy’s “get their act together. ”He insists they need to “show respect for classic artists who built the recording business.”
